Chef Nicholas, the youngest of the 4 boys, loves Pulled Pork. Here is an easy recipes he made for the entire family : Texas Pulled Pork Recipe.

The Instant Pot was very useful to create this recipe. You could also use a slow-cooker or the oven and modify the recipe accordingly. Nicholas would love to visit Texas because it is known as the Capital of Cowboy in the world. Beside Westerns experiences, there is plenty of things to explore such as music, beaches and road trips with magnificent sceneries.

The apple cider vinegar is a very important ingredient to make this authentic Texas Pulled Pork recipe. The BBQ sauce is more thinner and less sweet compare to the popular BBQ sauce we use now in days.

Equipment

  • Instant Pot

Ingredients
  

Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp. Brown sugar Packed
  • 2 tsps. Paprika
  • 2 tsps. Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsps. Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Optional

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Chicken or beef broth
  • 1 tsp. Hot pepper sauce Optional
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce

FOR SAUTÉ

  • 3 pounds Boneless Pork roast cut into 3-4 inch cubes
  • 2 tbsps. Olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Chicken or beef broth

ADD AT THE END

  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce

OPTIONAL

  • 6 Buns
  • 3 cups Coleslaw (1/2 cup each)

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, cumin and cayenne.
  • Season the cubed pork with the spices mixture and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl whisk together the apple vinegar, one cup of barbecue sauce, the hot pepper sauce (optional) and one cup of broth.
  • Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. Add the olive oil and allow to get hot.
  • Add half of the cubed pork to the hot oil and santé for 5 minutes. Remove the browned pork to a plate and repeat with the remaining half of the pork for another 5 minutes
  • Turn Instant Pot off. Use 1/4 chicken broth to scrape the brown bits from the bottom of the Instant Pot ( IMPORTANT STEP).
  • Add all the cubed pork in the Instant Pot with the barbecue mixture.
  • Close carefully the lid and set to sealing.
  • Cook on manual high pressure for 40 minutes. Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to slow release naturally for 10 minutes. Then do a quick release.
  • Remove the meat from the Instant Pot and shred. Stir in the remaining 1 cup barbecue sauce.
  • Serve on a Buns with coleslaw (optional). Enjoy!
