Who is Ella’s Blended Family?

Where is a little about us! We are a blended family of 6 including me, Ella. A blended family is when two families with previous children become one large family. Our Page focus on tips, advice, and positive strategies for blended families, stepmoms, and stepdads to help navigate these unique challenges.

I’m Ella

I’m the youngest member of my imperfect blended family of 7, and I’m so happy you stopped by! Here is a little about us! To begin, my family was so excited about my arrival last January 2020. I’m a female King Charles Cavalier Spaniel with big dark eyes and a perfect Blenheim fur. My mom, Cecile, tells me that I just completed our blended family. Let me tell you, with four boys in our household, it gets pretty hectic and exciting around here. Let me explain how our blended family has begun.

Our On Going Journey.

Our ongoing journey started in January of 2014 at a quaint little coffee shop where my mom met my dad for the first time. My mom had two sons, Benjamin (6 years old) and Nicholas (4 years old), from her previous marriage and my dad also had two sons, Xavier (9 years old) and Jacob (7 years old), from his previous marriage.

I don’t have to tell you that my mom fell deeply in love with my dad! Not knowing how to manage, understand or know what to expect from a complex blended family, my mom did a lot of research on the internet and read many books. My parents both knew very little about navigating the ups and downs and everything in between their new “normal.”

However, as we all know, the divorce rate is high, and studies show that 60-70% of blended families involving children from previous marriages fail. My mom refused to believe that it was impossible to have a second chance at love and live happily ever after with our imperfect blended family. It’s a lot of work for sure, but so rewarding for every one of us.

So, she created this blog to give tips, advice and positive strategies to all Stepfamilies. Are you ready to take this journey with us?

Since our journey started seven years ago, my mom, Cecile, wanted to share their past experiences and how they got here today. You will find her writings in the tips and support category, and I will keep you up to date with all the exciting stuff we are up to.

Meet our blended family!

Meet Cecile!

My mom, Cecile, is the writer behind Ella’s Blended Family. She was a Registered Nurse for more than 15 years and recently decided to buy her own small local ice cream business in February 2019. She loves coffee and chocolate. My mom also finds it rewarding to give back to our wonderful community. She loves helping other blended families. Check out her new e-book: The Art of Successfully Blending Families: A guide to a happy blended family.  She was the one who wanted to have me as part of our big family. Having flaws, too, she gets overwhelmed easily. Not to worry, my dad is there to ease things up.

Meet Frank!

My Dad, Frank, has been a Game Producer for more than 15 years. He likes doing renovation projects around the house and keeping busy. He works very hard and gives his 100% in everything he does. The boys say he is the strictest in the place, but I wouldn’t know; he kind of spoils me quite a bit. He was the hardest one to convince to add me to the family…Fiouff, I’m happy my mom helped change his mind.

Meet Nicholas!

Nicholas (Number 4): He is the youngest of the boys. He loves building and creating all kinds of stuff with Legos. My mom doesn’t want me in his room because there are a lot of tasty Legos everywhere. He has a big warm heart and a lot of energy. He takes excellent care of me.

Meet Benjamin!

Benjamin (Number 3): What can I say? He is an old soul in a small body. Benjamin was sick when he was little. He had heart surgery when he was only 16 months old. My mom says he grew up way too fast because he spent so much time in the Hospital. The good news is, he is now doing great and living a full life. He is very empathetic and loves to make people happy. He loves the outdoor and riding his mountain bike.

Meet Jacob!

Jacob (Number 2): This guy is independent. He knows what he wants and what he doesn’t. He follows the rules to a T. He’s been a vegetarian for almost four years now. I had no idea what that meant, but apparently, he doesn’t eat meat.  He loves to make Pun Jokes and plays with words.

Meet Xavier!

Xavier (Number 1): I don’t see much of this guy. He spends a lot of time in his room downstairs. My mom says that’s what teenagers do. When he comes upstairs (usually to get something to eat), Oh boy, I get VERY excited to see him.  He scratches me precisely at the right spot.  All dogs love him, and I don’t blame them…there is just something about him. He loves science and technology and board games. I’m pretty sure he will work on Computers when he gets older.
