Do you have a hard time finding a family game that the whole family loves? Here are the top 2 family games selected by the boys. I love playing with my toys and chasing leaves and balls, but my humans don’t find it as much fun as I do. My Dad says it’s extremely hard to find a family game that we all love because we each have different interests, and we are all different ages.
Over the years, the boys have found a couple of family games that all of us love and are suitable for ages 10 and up. I can’t exactly play with them, but I certainly do not mind walking under the kitchen table and playing with their feet. Here are the Top 2 board games selected by the Boys:
1.Les Loups-garous de Thiercelieux
It’s a card game created by the French authors Philippe des Pallières et Hervé Marly. In English, it is called “The Werewolves of Millers Hollow”. The best part is, it can be played in many languages, it’s easy to understand and it can be played between 8 to 47 players. It’s perfect for our big family of 7 when our grandparents or friends come over.
The boys like to play this game around the firepit outside after supper. They laugh a lot and get extremely excited. Even more excited than when I see leaves fly by. The game only lasts about 30 minutes and we usually play 2-3 games each time.
2.Dudgeon and Dragons (D&D)
You might have already heard about this game. It’s an old tabletop role-playing game from 1974. My Dad use to play D&D when he was younger and he’s 45 years old now and he still loves it!
Xavier (Number 1) is the one controlling the game and creating the story. He calls himself the dungeon master. Sounds pretty scary but it really isn’t. It’s fun to see him. I do not see him very often. He spends a lot of time in his room.
Nicholas (Number 4) is teamed up with Dad so he can understand the game better… he is only 11 years old.
Benjamin (Number 3) and Jacob ( Number 2) sometimes make bad moves, well quite often actually, but they all get a great laugh about it.
My mom is an Elf in the game and a healer. She always liked fantasy movies such as Harry Potter so she really enjoyed creating her character and her back story.
The game takes months to play until the end. Each mission can last 1-2 hours. They only get to play once a month because Xavier needs to create the story and that takes time.
It’s a great game for any big family of 6 or more. You do not need to create the story game yourself. There are stories already created on the Dungeon and Dragons Website. You really should check it out.
