The Perfect Place To Stay For Larger Families

My name is Ella. I’m the dog of our blended family of 6. Last summer, with the pandemic restriction to travel, we spent our time visiting our beautiful province. Our biggest challenge last year was to find a place to stay in New Brunswick Canada that could accommodate our large family and was also dog-friendly so that I could tag along. Therefore, our trips could only be day trips. With two adults and four teenage boys, we needed to return home afterward. Larger families, blended or not, encounter the same challenges as we do. We partnered up with some exceptional rental properties in New Brunswick that can accommodate at least six and are dog friendly to help you find that perfect place to stay with your large family or group.

Discovering The Bower Beach Villa in Cap Bimet

Last week, we had the pleasure of staying at a stunning Beach Villa by Bower Hotel and Suites in Cap Bimet, NB, Canada. With its breathtaking ocean views, the experience was truly unforgettable. But before we dive into the details, we’d love to share a bit of the fascinating history behind this incredible location.

History of Cap Bimet

Cap Bimet is located just 25 minutes from Moncton, NB, and only 10 minutes from the famous tourist town of Shediac. In the early 1900s, Cap Bimet gained recognition for its abundant fish and shellfish, quickly becoming a vital source of food and income for locals. During fishing season, workers and their families would move to Cap Bimet, marking the beginning of the beautiful cottage village we see today.

One of Cap Bimet’s most influential figures was Emile Paturel, a pioneering local in New Brunswick’s seafood industry. With a fleet of fishing boats and equipment, he built a fish plant and a larger wharf at Cap Bimet in 1936. Tragically, the plant burned down in 1939, but Mr. Paturel was determined to rebuild. By the mid-1940s, his new facility was completed, with state-of-the-art equipment, expanded space, and even a restaurant.

In November 2007, however, the fish plant burned down a second time and was not rebuilt. The only building left standing was the one with the water towers, which has since been renovated into the Beach Villa where we stayed. Remarkably, if you go down to the basement, you can still see traces of where the water tower once stood. Isn’t it amazing how history lives on in this place?

In some of our photos, you’ll also spot the remains of the old pier and the spot where the pipe once carried fresh water to the tanks. During our stay, we watched several anglers fishing off the end of the old port—the fish are still incredibly abundant in this area!

During our stay, the Paturel Shorehouse Restaurant was still standing proudly across from the Beach Villa, carrying forward Mr. Emile Paturel’s legacy with its celebrated name. Known for drawing locals and visitors alike with its renowned service and excellent seafood, the restaurant unfortunately closed in the summer of 2024, and the building has since been removed. Its presence is certainly missed, but its legacy remains a vibrant part of Cap Bimet’s history.

Meet the owner

Thierry LeBoutillier, owner of Bower Hotel and Suites, works closely with his team to manage six exceptional hotels across Moncton, Shediac, and Cap Bimet. They take immense pride in ensuring every guest’s experience is unique and unforgettable. During our stay, we truly felt as though we were at a beach resort in the tropics—Cap Bimet Beach Villa is a genuinely picturesque location.

One of Thierry’s hotels, the Capitol Robinson in Moncton, was even recognized as one of Air Canada enRoute’s Top Favorite Canadian Hotels, a testament to the quality and charm his properties bring to the region.

Top reasons to stay at  Bower Beach Villa in Cap Bimet

Peaceful

This beach villa sits right on the Atlantic Ocean, overlooking our neighbors in Prince Edward Island. The property is private and spacious, both inside and out, and can comfortably accommodate up to eight adults and four children. And yes, it’s even dog-friendly! Just reach out to Mel, who will happily work with you to find the best option for your furry family member.

Breathtaking view

Our pictures truly capture the beauty of this place. The view was spectacular throughout the day. In the morning, the tide rises remarkably high, making it a perfect time to enjoy breakfast or a coffee while watching the sunrise. By dinnertime, the tide recedes, revealing the ocean floor where you can stroll and discover treasures from nature. The scenery was phenomenal, even on rainy days!

Close to popular attractions

If you’re searching for the ideal getaway that allows you to escape it all while remaining close to some of the most popular attractions in Shediac, this retreat is perfect for you. The Beach Villa is currently open only during the summer season, but it may be available year-round in the future. I’ll share more details about the nearby attractions close to the Villa later.

Accommodations

The sleeping accommodations at the Villa were fantastic. It can comfortably host up to eight adults and four children, featuring four private rooms, each equipped with a cozy queen-size bed, along with one room that has two bunk beds. With four teenagers in tow, having access to three bathrooms was a real blessing. Plus, my parents enjoyed the convenience of a private bathroom in the master suite!

Top amenities Bower Beach Villa has to offer.

This rental location has so much to offer, providing everything you need—and more—to make your experience truly unforgettable.

Fully Furnished Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials. You’ll find a Keurig and an espresso machine, along with coffee pods and tea ready for you. The fridge even comes stocked with water bottles, so all we had to do was bring our groceries. If cooking isn’t your thing, there’s a wide selection of restaurants in Shediac, all within a 10-minute drive.

BBQ and Spacious Deck Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean

We had the pleasure of using a massive BBQ with a full propane tank during our stay. My dad, who loves barbecuing, took full advantage of it, cooking every meal for us. We enjoyed most of our dinners at the large table on the patio, all while admiring the stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Washer and Dryer

The Beach Villa features a washer and dryer on the main floor, which is essential for longer stays—especially with kids in tow!

Fully Furnished Bathroom

The bathrooms were well-stocked with plenty of towels for the whole family, along with shampoo and soap. This thoughtful touch allowed us to pack light for our family of six. My mom particularly enjoyed the large tub, sneaking away for a blissful hour-long soak while the kids were occupied.

Large Private Inground Pool

We also had access to a spacious private pool outside the Villa, complete with plenty of lounge chairs and two patio sets. The boys, especially Nicholas, spent most of their time enjoying the heated pool.

WIFI and Netflix

Free Wi-Fi was available, though we didn’t use it much. We mainly relied on our devices to unwind before the boys went to bed. However, Nicholas took full advantage of it in the mornings while everyone else, including me, was still asleep. The boys also loved watching The Secret Life of Pets 2 on the big-screen TV in the living room.

Firepit

At night, the four boys enjoyed gathering around the bonfire. We all loved sitting by the fire on the waterfront, savoring delicious s’mores while listening to the soothing sound of the waves.
