How To Make The Best Wizardry Halloween Activity.

Do you like witches, wizards, and magic? Well, you came to the right place. My name is Ella. I am the dog of our blended family of 6. What is a blended family? It is when two families become one. For my family, celebrating every holiday and occasion is especially important. They have only been a blended family for the past seven years, so they want to make up for all the missed experiences together. As we enter the 4th wave of this pandemic, celebrating Halloween will once again be different. The four boys are getting older too, and trick or treating is becoming less appealing for them. My Mom likes to make the best out of everything; thanks to creative ways, we will show you how to create an exciting wizardry Halloween activity for teens in the comfort of your own home.

First, we were gifted the Unofficial Hogwarts Cookbook for Kids from the Author Alana Al-Haltani. My Mom is a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and movies, so we created an exciting Halloween experience based on this cookbook. The four boys’ chose recipes highlighted in one of the Happy Potter movies.

My family has partnered with Pacific and Court, a book publicity and digital marketing company, so you could discover the new release Cookbook “The Unofficial Hogwarts Cookbook for Kids” This post may contain affiliate links. Recipes, snacks, and drinks

Menu

Appetizer:
Pumpkin Soup

It was not mentioned anywhere in the Happy Potter movies, but we could assume that pumpkins played a big part in this magical world. Furthermore, pumpkins are low in calories and full of vitamins and minerals. This recipe is perfect for those colder fall days. Even I had a taste of this pumpkin puree.

Main Course:
Shepherd’s Pie

My family loves my Mom’s Shepherd’s Pie, but this recipe was different from how she usually makes it. Everyone was excited to try this one. It is a dish that was often served for dinner at the school. Made with mashed potatoes, ground beef and full of vegetables, it makes for a great comfort dish.

Dessert:
Pumpkin Pasties

Both beautiful and full of flavour, these pumpkin pasties are also relatively easy to make. Our favourite wizards had these during their train rides to Hogwarts school. The whole family loved these and are planning to make them again this fall.

Snacks and drinks:
Caramel Apple Slices

The students enjoyed these treats at the school during Halloween, so it only made sense to have them during our wizardry Halloween. Benjamin wanted to make these for the entire family on his own. They were a little messy to make, but it was all great fun and created wonderful memories.

Acid Lollipops

Do you remember when Ron mentioned that one of his brothers gave him an Acid Lollipop when he was seven, which burnt a hole through his tongue? These acid lollipops were mentioned and seen in multiple movies. The four boys loved their sour and sweet taste, but my Mom and Dad, not so much. For this recipe, make sure to only leave a skinny coat of corn syrup or honey before dipping them in sugar and citric acid. My Mom applied too much honey as they were dripping everywhere. We will know better next time around.

Charming Cherry Soda

This was the Professors’ favourite drink. Make it extra fancy in a tall glass or with an umbrella on top. The boys had this drink with their snacks while watching a movie that night.

Butterscotch “Beer”

If you are a fan of Happy Potter, you have undoubtedly heard of the famous Butterbeer. One of my family’s favourite drinks to try during their visit to the Universal Studio in Orlando, Florida, in 2019. It was necessary without a doubt to include this drink in our exciting wizardry Halloween activity.

We were all excited to make the popular Chocolate Frog recipes, but we could not find any gummy frog candies anywhere. They told us they were out of stock and that they were hard to get a shipment because of COVID. I guess more wizard fans around the world were buying these too.

Decorations

Floating candles

My Dad found this fantastic battery and remote-operated candles on Amazon. They made the perfect ambiance decoration to recreate the Hogwarts kitchen fest. However, my Mom did not put any batteries in them as they might be too heavy to hang with invisible thread on our chandeliers.

Name Tags for the Food and a Menu

To make it more like a restaurant or a soiree, My Mom made name tags for the food and a menu for the boy’s choice of meals and snacks. Subscribe to our Blog, and we will send you our free planner and templates for your own Wizardry Halloween Activity.

Table

In which schoolhouses do you think you belong? The Sorting Magical Hat determined that we all belonged in the Gryffindor house. We made sure to have our logo at each of the table ends. My Mom also bought a red tablecloth and yellow napkins to match our logo. Depending on the house you choose to belong to, decorate the table with the colours of your crest.

My family also added the food on the table to recreate the Hogwarts festive dinner that our favourite wizards shared on their first day at school.

Potion bottles

These little bottles were great and helped set the mood even more for night magic. The boy added food colouring and water to pretend they were potions.

Posters

We printed different photos and posters to help recreate the castle’s wall full of moving paintings.

Platform 9 ¾

No wizardry Halloween decor would be complete without Platform 9 ¾. We found this perfect Cloth Shower curtain, and we hung it on the wall entrance of our dining room. Platform 9 ¾ was the finishing touch for our Halloween activity.

Final thought

My family had so much fun, from preparing our wizardry Halloween activity to tasting the famous food from the Hogwarts kitchen. Not only will they have memories from this night for years to come, but they also had the chance to spend quality time as a family. We hope this blog provided you with ideas on making the best wizardry Halloween activity for teens of your own. Nothing better than fun, magical laughter and great food with your favourite witches and wizards.

  1. Those pumpkin pastries looked really really good and I’m just in awe of how much fun it looked like everyone had within your blended family. It really put a smile on my face 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh, I love this! We started reading book 3 this week as a family and it’s so exciting to share my kids’ wonder as we travel through Harry Potter for the first time. This post gives me so much inspiration for a Harry Potter Halloween activity or party! I LOVE the floating candles!

  3. We are a family of HP fans, so my kids would love some of these ideas. Much as I love Pumpkin anything, I have never made pasties! Will have to give it a try, as the kids DEVOURED the ones we bought at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
