A Book Review on Luna Finds Love Everywhere

My name is Cecile. I’m a Mom of two and a Step-mom of two boys, and all four boys are between 12 to 17 years old. When I first decided to become a mother, my mission was to help them become great and happy, independent men. I knew I had to find ways to help them learn self-love. We practice these lessons by being grateful, finding positive solutions, encouraging them in their projects, and showing interest in their hobbies. I am always looking for ways to improve. Childhood is the perfect time to learn self-love because chances are they have not yet distinguished between loving others and themselves. People who know how to love themselves have more confidence, adapt to difficult situations, and create healthier relationships with others.

About the Autor

Dr. Shainna is a mental health counsellor, educator and advocate. She is also the author of The self-love Workbook and The self-love Workbook for Teen. In the book Luna Finds Love Everywhere, she wanted to allow parents or caregivers to explore and engage with their children about self-love utilizing Luna’s daily routine.

What we loved about the book: Luna Finds Love Everywhere

Illustration

The illustrations throughout Luna’s story are full of colours and describe each step of her day so eloquently. There is so much to see, and this can generate such great conversations with your child. I especially loved the character’s facial expressions.  Catarina Oliveira is the illustrator of this book. She’s been an illustrator for children’s books since 2014.

Easy to read

The length of Luna Find Love Everywhere is great for a bedtime story. We enjoyed it a lot and had some small conversations about each step in Luna’s daily routine.  I love it when we can start and complete a book at bedtime, and so does Nicholas.

Thought bubbles

My son and I loved the “thought bubbles” located on every page throughout Luna’s journey. These can certainly help parents start the conversation on self-exploration, self-expression and self-kindness. Nicholas was able to relate to some of Luna’s daily situations.

Luna

Nicholas adored Luna’s character. He found that she was kind and would make a great friend, and I have to agree. Luna was able to find love within herself and all around her without being selfish. She is compassionate, kind and she is very grateful for the people around her.  

Final thoughts

I recommend this book to all parents of children under ten years old. It can guide all caregivers about how to help any child learn self-love. It will generate great conversation and a deeper understanding of new concepts when reading Luna Finds Love Everywhere. I read it with Nicholas, and he also reads it by himself.
