This summer My mom decided that every Tuesday would be Road Trip Day with me and the boys. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we will only be visiting our beautiful province and follow the Public Health Guideline.

We got up early that morning, well I was up already, but the boys were still in bed except number 4, Nicholas, he is mostly the one that gets up before anyone else in the house. Our road trip that Tuesday was visiting St-Martin’s Caves and the Hanging Bridge in Fundy Parkway. My mom had looked up google maps so we would not get lost on our way there. She wanted to find the fastest way to get there. Since I was coming along and I was only 7 months old at the time, that meant that I would need to stop for more than a few potty breaks. Having an oops moment in the car probably wouldn’t have been very fun.

My dad was working that day, so he was not joining us on our little adventure. The plan was to leave around 10 am so we could have a picnic for lunch when we got there. According to my mom, it would take about 1h30 to get to our destination.

The Drive

I slept most of the road trip. I did not even notice we got lost on a dirt road. Apparently, the boys got a little scared when we ended up on a big hill and had to cross a Four-Wheeler bridge with our car. At that point, my mom decided to turn around and I woke up. That was great cause I had the chance to get out for yet another potty break. We finally got there 2 hours later, well past lunch time. The boys still talk about that trip today.

The Picnic

Our first stop was Fundy Parkway Big Salmon River lookout to have our Picnic. At that point I was wide awake and anxious to get out. The scenery was breathtaking. The Lookout is elevated at 112m, it offers the view of the Fundy coastline. Great place to have a picnic but I recommend bringing bug spray even though the mosquitos did not bother me at all, it bothered my human family to say the least.

The Hanging Bridges

Our second stop was the Hanging Bridge. It is an 84 m Suspended Bridge, that was built at the same location as an old covered bridge after it was washed away during a Spring thaw. I was not even scared of walking the full length of the bridge, but Nicholas (Number 4) was a little disquiet.

St-Martin’s Caves

St-Martin’s Sea Caves were our last stop before returning home. We were some lucky to stop by at low tide, so we were all able to walk the ocean floor and see the cavern and arches. The tide rises and falls every 6 hours 13 min. What an incredible place. For me it was the best stop because I had the chance to run and walk in the water and sand. I was quite dirty when we got back to the car, but I really didn’t care.

What a fun day that was! We want to hear from you, what did you do for fun this summer during this Covid-19 Pandemic?  Follow us to see more of our Tuesday Road Trip adventures…coming soon!
